In the wake of Lebanon’s multitude of crises, Beirut and Beyond announces its innovative Musicians Support Program aimed at providing Lebanon-based musicians and parts of the music community with both immediate and long-term career support.
The immediate support takes the form of direct-to-artist paid commissions of 1000 USD for new previously unrecorded works, modest financial support for their recording, mixing and mastering (paid directly to the engineers), and the release of these new works as part of a digital-only compilation album, which will be distributed and promoted internationally across all streaming and download services by Beirut and Beyond.
The long-term support will include administrative and financial support to register the musicians and their entire catalogue of original works with the performance royalties organisation SACEM (covered by Beirut and Beyond), so that they are able to receive performance, publishing and mechanical royalties for their works for the rest of their careers.
All musicians who are currently based in Lebanon are eligible to apply for the program, regardless of their music’s genre, their nationality, their experience or their lineup (solo, duo, group etc…). We have made every effort to keep the format, requirements and language of the application itself as simple as possible.
A committee of local and international professionals will make a gender-balanced selection from the applicants based on the artistic strengths of the musicians’ previous work, regardless of whether those works have been officially released or not. The committee includes: Yasmine Hamdan (independent musician/composer), Khyam Allami (independent musician/composer), Tarek Yamani (independent musician/composer), Alexandra Archetti (Director, Oslo World), Lara Khoury (independant consultant MENA), Racha Salah (independent cultural consultant) and Soudabeh Kia (World Music advisor, Theatre de la Ville).
Aside from engaging the music community in creative practice during these complex times, and providing them with immediate and long-term career support, the compilation album resulting from this initiative will be a distinct postcard of its time, marking a significant point in Lebanon’s history with honest, independent and artistic musical responses.
Beirut and Beyond’s Musicians Support Programme was created in collaboration with musician/composer Khyam Allami and is funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Beirut, the Beirut-focused fundraisers organised by Oslo World and Theatre de la Ville, and SACEM France.

في ظلّ الأزمات المتعدّدة التي تعصف بلبنان، تعلن بيروت أند بيوند عن برنامج مبتكر لدعم الموسيقيّين، والذي يهدف إلى تأمين دعم مهني على المديين القريب والبعيد للموسيقيّين المقيمين في لبنان ولقسم من المجتمع الموسيقي.
يأتي الدعم المباشر على هيئة تكليفات خاصة مباشرة للفنانين بقيمة ١٠٠٠ دولار أميركي لتسجيل أعمال جديدة غير مسجلة سابقاً، والدعم المالي المتواضع للمساهمة بتكليفات التسجيل، والمكساج، والماسترينغ (والذي يُدفع مباشرة إلى المهندسين)، وإطلاق هذه الأعمال الجديدة ضمن ألبوم رقمي الذي سيجري توزيعه والترويج له من قبل بيروت أند بيوند على المستوى الدولي عبر جميع منصات الموسيقى الرقمية.
يتضمّن الدعم الطويل الأمد الدعم الإداري والمالي من أجل تسجيل الموسيقيّين وكامل أعمالهم مع منظّمة حقوق الملكية الفكرية ساسيم، جمعيّة المؤلّفين والملحّنين وناشري الموسيقى (بتغطية من بيروت أند بيوند) كي يتمكّنوا من الحصول على حقوق التأليف، الأداء والنشر عن أعمالهم الخاصّة وذلك حتّى نهاية حياتهم المهنيّة.
إنّ جميع الموسيقيّين المقيمين في لبنان مؤهّلون للترشّح للبرنامج، بغضّ النظر عن النوع الموسيقي المتّبع، او جنسيّتهم او خبرتهم او تنظيمهم (صولو، ديو، مجموعة…). وقد بذلنا قصارى جهدنا من أجل الإبقاء على شكل الإستمارة ومتطلّباتها ولغتها بأبسط حلّة ممكنة.
ستقوم لجنة من المهنيّين المحلّيين والدوليّين باختيار المرشّحين والمرشّحات مع الأخذ بعين الاعتبار التوازن الجندري بالاعتماد على المتانة الفنّيّة للأعمال السابقة للموسيقيّين، بغض النظر عمّا إذا جرى إطلاق هذه الأعمال رسميًّا. تتضمّن اللجنة ياسمين حمدان (موسيقيّة/مؤلّفة مستقلّة)، وخيّام اللامي (موسيقي/مؤلّف مستقلّ)، وطارق يمني (موسيقي/مؤلّف مستقلّ)، وألكسندرا أركيتي ستولن (مديرة، أوسلو ورلد)، ولارا خوري (مستشارة مستقلّة، منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا)، ورشا صلاح (مستشارة ثقافيّة مستقلّة)، وسودابي كيا (مستشار موسيقى عالميّة، تياتر دو لا فيل).
بالإضافة إلى تشجيع المجتمع الموسيقي على الممارسات الابداعيّة خلال الأوقات الصعبة هذه، وتأمين الدعم على المديّين القريب والبعيد لمسيرتهم الفنّيّة، سيكون الألبوم الناتج عن هذه المبادرة علامة فارقة في هذه المرحلة، ما يجعل منه نقطة بارزة في تاريخ لبنان تتمتّع بالأداء الموسيقي الصادق والمستقلّ والفنّي.
أُنشئ برنامج دعم الموسيقيّين الخاص ببيروت أند بيوند بالتعاون مع الموسيقي/المؤلّف خيّام اللامي، وبتمويل من السفارة النرويجيّة في بيروت، وبمساعدة من الفعاليات المانحة المخصّصة لبيروت والمنظّمة من قبل أوسلو ورلد وتياتر دو لا فيل، وبمشاركة ساسيم فرنسا.
