Music Talks is a monthly gathering that will occur on the second Tuesday of each month, starting in September 2024. It is meant to be a round-table conversation involving music practitioners, artists, curators, organizers, and others in the alternative music community in Lebanon.
Sessions will focus on specific topics that will be discussed and developed with the audience. We will select panelists whose insights and experiences will help shape the questions and open the exchange towards those attending.
Our goal is to bring conversations from private circles to a broader audience, addressing our shared struggles, frustrations, ambitions, and criticisms in a constructive and inclusive manner.
We plan to hold the first few talks in Barzakh, Hamra, before expanding the series into other venues in different parts of Lebanon.
We have a lot to talk about, so we hope to see you there!
Music Talks is organized by Beirut and Beyond, curated by Anthony Tawil, and funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Beirut.
“حَكي موسيقى” هو مُلتقى شهري سيُعقد في ثاني ثلاثاء من كل شهر، بدءاً من شهر أيلول/سبتمبر 2024.
المُلتقى عبارة عن سلسلة من النقاشات على شكلِ طاولةٍ مستديرةٍ تجمع موسيقيين محترفين، وفنانين، وقيّمين فنيين، ومنظمين، وغيرهم من المشهد الموسيقي البديل في لبنان.
تتمحور الجلسات حول مواضيع محدّدة، تكون محطّ نقاش وتطوير مع الحضور.
سنقوم باختيار متحدثين يتميّزون بخبراتهم وأفكارهم من أجل إثارة الأسئلة وإشراك الحضور في النقاش.
يكمن هدفنا في إخراج الأحاديث من الدوائر المغلقة ومشاركتها مع جمهور أوسع، لنتناول معًا التحديات والاحباطات والطموحات المشتركة فضلاً عن الانتقادات بطريقةٍ بنّاءةٍ وشاملةٍ.
نعتزم إقامة أوّل نقاشات في هذه السلسلة في مقهى برزخ في الحمرا قبل التوسّع إلى أماكن أخرى في مختلف المناطق اللبنانيّة.
