Open Call – Rap & Beyond Residency 21-29 May, Lebanon

BACKGROUND

Beirut and Beyond (Lebanon) and the World Culture Museums (Sweden) joined forces to promote and support womxn voices from the Rap, Hip Hop and Trap scene in the MENA region. Both partners attempt to address the gender gap in these music genres under the Rap and Beyond project.

We have launched an open invitation for talented womxn singers in the rap / hip hop / trap music scene from the MENA region to take part in a creative residency, followed by concerts in Lebanon from 21 to 29 May.

Residency programme will include field visits, workshops, composition of a new song in collaboration with other residency members, rehearsals and performing LIVE in Lebanon.

PROFILE

  • Female and non-binary Rap / Hip Hop / Trap singer
  • Nationals from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
  • Previous experience with published music work on platforms such as Anghami, Spotify, YouTube, Soundcloud, etc.
  • You have a new song in mind and are looking for collaborations to release it.
  • Open to collaboration with other artists.
  • Able to release a new song within a short period of time.

PARTICIPANTS

Due to the overflow of talented applications, we ended up increasing the number of selected participants from 8 to 10: Leila Beshara, ENANA, Nadine El Roubi, Frizzy, Xena Elshazli, Minerva, Nayomi, Sabine Salame, MedusaTN and Thawra.
