B&B x Prozess Residencies: Ziad Moukarzel

Until recently, Beirut was considered the cultural metropolis par excellence, offering a highly innovative and diverse cultural content throughout the region. The current situation, between waves of inflation and COVID-19, is putting a whole generation of young artists and cultural workers under massive pressure.

It is against this backdrop that the Beirut and Beyond residency program was born.
With 6 residencies planned for the first season, two of which have already taken place in different parts of Lebanon, B&B has partnered up with PROZESS to produce its latest residency: Ziad Moukarzel in Bern.

Ziad Moukarzel is a well-known modular synthesizer player and music producer, and an active
long-term member of the music scene in Beirut. He is the co-founder of the prominent Woodwork Sound Studio and the Beirut Synthesizer Center. He has produced a number of local, regional and international acts and has performed under various pseudonyms and with different collectives. He focuses primarily on live music, exploring new spectrums of Bass music, breaks, industrial and electro.

B&B and PROZESS have planned a 15-day artistic residency for Ziad Moukarzel, a period during which he will be working on the compositions and recordings of his first-ever album. He will then premiere his freshly-produced sounds during a post-residency concert at PROZESS on Thursday, January 20 at 8 PM. This residency was made possible with the help and support of ArtLink, the Norwegian Embassy in Beirut, AFAC and Culture Resource.
